diary: change and blue details

Learn from the lobster and cast off that shell (and your limitations) to free yourself up to change.

It’s no big secret that people don’t like change. In fact, I’m pretty sure we can all be in agreement that change is uncomfortable, very much in the way that a pair of overly shrunken jeans are uncomfortable, and we’d rather torture ourselves with something feeling not quite right than make an adjustment.

But why?

Recently I watched an old youtube video where a Rabbi talks about how a lobster feeling uncomfortable is a sign that it’s outgrown its shell. The lobster straight up has no choice but to shed the thing holding it back, because it’s become too big to stay as is. I think people should start looking at the situations in their lives the same way.

Babes, instead of looking at that obstacle you’re facing as a challenge you want to turn back from, or the big change you’re facing as just too dang hard to be worth it, imagine that you cannot afford to stay the same. You’ve grown too big and way better (seriously!) than the previous you, and by shedding your limitations you’re totally freeing yourself.

I know it’s scary, but just imagine how much scarier it would be to stay stagnant forever instead.

This is so pertinent to where I’m at in my life right now. Currently it seems like nothing has been untouched by massive amounts of change. I’m leaning into it instead of fighting it but hello is it uncomfortable ha! Thanks for the encouragement 🙂

I love a good analogy and that lobster one did it for me today! I am for sure a creature of habit and fight change which is ridiculous because everything I do revolves around constant change…so that’s fun for me, LOL. This here was a great reminder and dose of encouragement that made it’s way to me right on time. Thanks lady!

Yes, change is so uncomfortable and often scary, but it is what makes us grow. 🙂

Wow, I so needed to hear this as I’m right on the edge of change. Perhaps it’s the Virgo in me that I like to keep things neatly organized in their life boxes, but as we all know life has a way of throwing us curve balls and we must learn to adapt.

I used to be scared of change all the time, but I try to see the brighter side of things and try to be positive. Your outfit is so cute btw!

This is a really good perspective. I feel like I get so caught up in the actual change that I forget the alternative. Being stagnant is definitely not what I want. Thanks for the honest reminder.

I’m more welcoming of change than hubby. The world is constantly moving, but he wants to stay in the same place.
