“Monday Mantra” is a weekly feature, where I share an affirmation or quote that resonates with me that I’d like to try following for the upcoming week. Essentially, I’d like to start the week with positive intent, as an effort to keep those good vibes flowing through the week! You can look at past Monday Mantra posts here, and if you’re not sure what affirmations are, I talk about them here.
Okay I don’t know about you, but every one I’ve encountered recently seems to be feeling the effects of Mercury being in retrograde. What’s that mean? Well, you can read about it more in depth here, but essentially a few times a year Mercury “catches up to” Earth in its travels around the sun (Mercury’s orbit is faster than Earth’s orbit), and during those times it appears to be moving backwards. During those backward times, it seems as if all aspects of life can also end up feeling backwards and upside-down, or just downright rough.
I don’t usually believe in the mumbo-jumbo that is retrograde, but this past week I’ve definitely been feeling the struggle in more ways than one from the universe. For that reason, I chose the following affirmation for this week:
I know, I know, it’s a cheesy quote, but seriously: keep going. I know that times can get scary or tough or just totally overwhelming, but think of it this way: if you were to catch fire, would you just stand there and let the flames engulf you? No! So why would you just stop and let the situation at hand swallow you whole? It’s okay to take a moment to regather yourself, or maybe even take a whole day off, but then hunker down and face the situation head on.
If whatever you’re facing has already gotten bad enough to scare/upset/bother you, chances are you’re already past the hardest parts! Imagine that! And even if you’re not: is stressing about whatever you’re dealing with helping to improve it? No, right?? So stop that!
When you think back, how many times have you felt like you were having “the worst day ever”, but then life went on and it got better? I bet there were a lot. Next time I’m having one of those days (probably tomorrow with how I’ve been feeling), I’m going to try to take control of the situation instead of giving up, and just remember to keep going.
What affirmations are you going to focus on this week?
