seasonal depression

I think it’s about time someone wrote a winter blues anthem in the same vein as Lana’s summertime sadness. The shorter daylight hours, crappy cold weather, and just overall feeling of gloom really do a number on a person. I know we’re on the better side of winter solstice (it was December 21) so the days are slooowly getting longer, but until we get to that point, S.A.D is gonna be hanging around.

Well, what exactly is S.A.D.?

This stands for seasonal affective disorder, which is basically depression brought on by the season change. It tends to linger from late fall until the start of spring, and results in symptoms like the following:

• low motivation
• insomnia
• fatigue
• apathy
• weight gain
• moodiness
• appetite change
• trouble concentrating

Basically, life just feels really dang hard, okay? To help us all survive until sunnier days (literally and figuratively), I decided to put together a list of tips to cope with the winter blues. I hope that if you’re struggling some of these lend themselves to be useful to you. ♥ View Post
