Sorry for my posts being a little slow around here lately! I know I shared a post with tips for dealing with the blues, but I’ve definitely been struggling still (like everyone around me it seems?!), and I’ve found that the only way for me to truly work through the rough stuff is to take a breather. It’s definitely easier to move forward after sitting and getting to know your emotions, ya know? That way you’re working with yourself, instead of struggling against the tide.
At any rate, to get myself and you outta this funk, I wanted to share a post with 5 things I’m loving lately!
1. Pegboard Walls
I’ve been super into the idea of using pegboard to decorate lately, so I’ve been scouring the internet (especially pinterest) to get ideas. I really like this huge pegboard DIY that was done for Aspyn Ovard‘s house, but think I’d wanna get classic and do some chic white on white for my place! How cool is it that you can just rearrange the shelves where ever you want?!
2. Fitness with Whitney Simmons
So I think I discovered her via the explore page on instagram and it was immediately a “came for the body, stayed for the killer workouts” situation. Whitney’s a babe and I love watching her videos to get ideas. I’ve been trying to ease myself back into working out and her ab exercises definitely have me feeling the burn (seriously, 2 days later because I’m so out of shape.)

3. Chef’s Table
Again, I’m a little late in the game here, but I saw a friend mention Chef’s Table on facebook the other day and I’m officially hooked. If you’re like me and somehow never heard of this show, it highlights different award-winning chefs, including info on their life, how they found their craft, and their restaurant. The whole series is visually stunning and so far I can’t decide if I want to go to culinary school, spend all day trying to perfect my plating, or just start scouring for the best fine dining in Philadelphia. I will say that Dominique Crenn‘s episode is currently my fave.
4. Rose Gold/Blush
Okay, I totally understand that I’m behind on this trend, but with the warmer weather we’ve been having lately (and even warmer to come!!) I’ve been finding myself super into this rose gold/blush color. At this point the color is basically on the way out, but I like the idea of accenting stuff with a little splash of something girly, which is usually out of my style, but I think blush is versatile enough to get a little gritty.
5. The New Alpha
Lately, I’ve been obsessed with the book The New Alpha. I picked it up on a whim one day, and I love the idea that the “alpha” figure is evolving. Instead of the overachieving-bro-frat-boy everyone has grown to know, the idea behind The New Alpha is that new leaders are compassionate ones who strive for personal fulfillment, and get ahead by building up everyone around them. It’s something I’ve been trying to work toward personally, so it was really cool to see the idea laid out into words. If you’re seeking to better yourself, I suggest at least checking out Danielle Harlan‘s work, if not her book.

I think I’m too lazy for the oversized ones, as I think the holes are hand cut, but I still love them!
