Y’all it seems like we’re actually starting to see a break in the weather around here, and hopefully that means we’ve finally made it to SPRING! That said, does anyone feel like they’ve been in some sort of mental hibernation the last few months? I’m sure it’s partially in part to seasonal depression, but dang if I haven’t been truly embodying the feeling of just pushing my food around on my plate. Ya know, not really accomplishing eating, mostly pretending? Same.
In the spirit of blooming out of that shell, I’ve decided to try to add more intrigue back into my life, and I’ve listed out some tips to help y’all as well! Do something different to spice things up? Let me know below!
1. let yourself smile more
As a girl I’m sure we’re all more than ready to never have someone ask us to “smile!” again, but have you ever faked a smile for yourself? I’ve found that when I start faking a smile, no matter how I started out feeling, it ends up creating a very real positive effect on my mood! I’ve also found that when I start pushing out positive energy and real smiles to those around me (like, real smiles, with your eyes like Tyra taught you), life starts throwing positive things into my path.
This is one of the main rules of Law of Attraction, that “energy attracts energy”. What you’re putting out is what you’re going to get back. If the only thing you’re letting yourself feel is bored with life, what kind of things do you think are going to fall into your path?!

2. limit your time online
This is something I absolutely suck at, but I figure if I tell y’all enough times, maybe it’ll stick for me too. Seriously though, imagine how much time we’re actually regularly wasting by scrolling between the social media goliaths. If your phone usage is anything like mine… I bet it’s a whole lot!
Set a timer, and challenge yourself to limit your time online. When you carve out pockets in your day for non-digital things, you not only force yourself to be present, you open up space! Instead of flipping through Facebook, try introducing a new skill into your life! Or maybe try checking out a book! By redirecting your focus, you’ll open up a whole other world of possibilities with your time.[clickToTweet tweet=”When you carve out pockets of non-digital time, you open up space to introduce new skills into your life.” quote=”When you carve out pockets of non-digital time, you open up space to introduce new skills into your life.”]
3. try the new flavor
I’m a picky eater, but my rule of thumb is always: I’ll try anything once… and then try it again. I’ve found that your taste buds aren’t always accustomed to something different when you give it the first go around, so on the adventurous second try, you’ll know for sure how you really feel! You’ve got nothing to lose, and a whole palate to expand, right?!
Speaking of tasting something new, I recently got to check out Diet Coke®‘s 4 new flavors! They’ve introduced: Diet Coke® Feisty Cherry, Diet Coke® Ginger Lime, Diet Coke® Twisted Mango, and Diet Coke® Zesty Blood Orange. The O.G. Diet Coke® got a pretty dang sleek looking makeover with the new additions, but they made sure to keep that same great taste that everyone has come to love and expect!! (You can read more about the new flavors here!)
While they’re all pretty rad, the refreshing touch of ginger and the crisp addition of lime easily makes the Diet Coke® Ginger Lime my new favorite. These new Diet Coke flavors are available at retailers around the Philadelphia area (like Murphy’s Markets where I got mine!) and you can get them in 8-packs or buy on-the-go singles![clickToTweet tweet=”I’m a picky eater, but I’ll try anything once… and then try it again.” quote=”I’m a picky eater, but I’ll try anything once… and then try it again.”]
4. take that left turn
Do you find yourself taking the same route to and from work every single day? Things can start to feel pretty dang repetitive when you’re actually passing the same tree at least ten times as week, huh?
One of my favorite ways to add a little intrigue into my life is to literally seek a new path to explore! When you have some time to spare, let yourself take the long route home, play the left-right-straight game, or even take a left turn on the streets that start with vowels. Heck, you may end up finding a cute little cafe or BYOB you didn’t know existed while out wandering your own city.[clickToTweet tweet=”It’s hard to not add a little intrigue into your life when you start literally seeking new paths to explore.” quote=”It’s hard to not add a little intrigue into your life when you start literally seeking new paths to explore.”]
5. expand your circle
One of my favorite quotes is something like “You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with”. I’m not saying you should drop your friends, but even social circles can start to get stagnant if you’re hanging with the same crew over and over. When you start opening yourself up to meeting new people, you open up the opportunity to introduce so many new passions and perspectives into your life.
People are so friggin unique, and your new friends’ interests may end up becoming your own! I mean, chances are, you’d never even considered checking out ax throwing or horseback riding or improv on your own. Once you’ve started to build a web of connections, you’ll only find your routine growing in a (hopefully) positive direction.

6. make more room
It’ll be impossible to add more fun and excitement into your life if you’re not allowing yourself the space to do so. I think some of us get so attached to our boring routines that we start to use them as a safety blanket, because knowing what to expect every. single. day. seems way better than that fear of the unknown. That’s no way to roll through life!
Start by deciding that you want to allow yourself this opportunity for growth, and then slowly make moves. Condense the mindless tasks down, delegate out what you don’t have to do, and start journaling out the mental clutter. When you’ve cleared some space, both in your schedule and in your head, you’ll find you suddenly have room for some pretty dang exciting things to come into your life.[clickToTweet tweet=”When you clear out the clutter from your life, you open up space for exciting things to come instead.” quote=”When you clear out the clutter from your life, you open up space for exciting things to come instead.”]
