I’ve had this post in my queue for a minute now, because I noticed a handful of bloggers writing similar ones, and figured I should shelf it. But ya know what? If something is “trending”, there tends to be a reason. In my opinion, we’re hearing about the “Law of Attraction” from all angles because: it works.

But what exactly is the Law of Attraction?

I talk a little bit about the idea behind it here, but essentially by focusing on the positive or negative thoughts a person is having, they can manifest into real life experiences. Basically: your thoughts become your reality. If you’re repeating something to yourself, that phrase will create imagery in your mind, which will affect you subconsciously, in turn influencing your behavior, then actions, and overall habits. Like energy attracts like energy.

Although I was already utilizing affirmations in my daily life, it’s only recently that I’ve fully started to employ the Law of Attraction. It’s kind of amazing when you approach life with a positive mindset, just how much starts to align (and in a short time)!

“Monday Mantra” is a weekly feature, where I share an affirmation or quote that resonates with me that I’d like to try following for the upcoming week. Essentially, I’d like to start the week with positive intent, as an effort to keep those good vibes flowing through the week! You can look at past Monday Mantra posts here, and if you’re not sure what affirmations are, I talk about them here.

Probably a week or so ago I started reading a book entitled You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero, after randomly picking a book off the bestseller shelf at Barnes & Noble during a particularly mental-hangry moment (you know the kind, when you just feel like absorbing all the info possible around you). I’m definitely going to do a review, because so far the book is just eye opening. Guys, if you’re out and you see this book, just flip through the first few pages and then try to not buy it. I bet you will. Or you won’t, out of spite (shame on you).

I’m not sure if it’s this rad book making me re-think my life, or just how I’ve felt refreshed after my little jaunt last week, but I really want to take a look at how I react to situations and overall just try to have a more positive attitude. For that reason, I’ve chosen this mantra for this coming week:

Do you ever have those days where you lose track of time and spend hours doing something, but at the end of the day realize you have nothing to show for it? Where you swear you’ve been busting your butt being busy, but in actuality you’ve just been wasting your time? Basically, one of those days where you somehow got lost in a rabbit hole of social media? Yea, me either (not).

I actually had a whole different Monday Mantra post intended, but ended up somehow wasting away 6 hours and fell asleep before I could actually put my thoughts down, leading me to choose this new mantra for the week:

Yesterday was my birthday (wooo 27!). I had planned an important post talking about growth that I wanted to set the tone for the year (rather than week) in relation to starting a “fresh” and “new” me, but for some reason I just couldn’t find the proper words; every quote just seemed wrong, and nothing responded with me emotionally. I wanted to talk about how some people don’t grow, only age, and how I felt like I was at a good place with myself, but there was just nothing there when I put fingers to keyboard. I even tried my usual go-to: pen to paper! Nada.

I got myself so stressed out that I actually had a full on meltdown. Not even a whole day into being 27 years old and I was ready to lay down on the floor, write the year off, and skip ahead to 28. I don’t like missing posts, but after staying up late (like, late late) and still not finding the words, I decided to sleep on it. I figured the right mantra to set the tone for my next year would come to me, I just had to chill out and take a step back. Then this morning, it did.

Here’s what I chose for 27:
